MemEx took part in the webinar “Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) Explained: From Concept to Daily Operation”, organised by ERMN (European Rural Mobility Network) and held on 10 March, contributing to both its organisation and the content shared during the event.

The webinar provided an important opportunity for exchange among European stakeholders engaged in improving mobility in rural areas, fostering discussion on challenges, opportunities, and innovative solutions to make territories more accessible, connected, and sustainable.

The session focused in particular on Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) and its potential to enhance accessibility in rural areas through flexible, user-oriented solutions.

During the event, three case studies from different European contexts were presented:

  • Kusel District (Germany)
  • TFI Local Link Mayo (Ireland)
  • MoM – Mobilità di Marca (Italy)

These contributions offered concrete examples and practical insights into the implementation of DRT services, highlighting their benefits, challenges, and potential across different local contexts.

As part of the webinar, the MemEx team also delivered a presentation outlining the key elements of DRT, providing an overview of the concept and its applications. In particular, the presentation explored the definition and core principles of Demand Responsive Transport, its differences from traditional public transport, and the contexts in which such solutions are most effective. Key takeaways were also shared, with a focus on impacts in terms of rural accessibility and social cohesion.

MemEx will continue to contribute to ERMN activities in the coming months, strengthening collaboration with European partners and supporting the development of concrete solutions for more sustainable and equitable mobility.
